The idea

People in the PNW are avid outdoors explorers. With increasingly notorious effects of climate change, they are looking for ways to learn, support, and grow their efforts to improve the outcome and landscape of their environment by supporting sustainable organizations.

To help communicate the current actions Oxbow is taking toward environmental sustainability, we developed a storytelling program of monthly newsletters, blog posts, and social media content that highlights the stories of those who work, enjoy, grow, and spend time at the farm.

My role:

  • Leading and managing a dynamic marketing and communications team to create compelling content based on valuable insights.

  • Crafting and editing engaging messages for various platforms, including social media, website, emails, advertising, press releases, customer support, and event materials.

  • Collaborating with internal teams to identify key messages that align with the mission and develop impactful content that effectively conveys the organization's value proposition and selling points.

  • Driving the creation and development of materials for events, marketing initiatives, educational programs, volunteer outreach, fundraising campaigns, social media strategy, and customer service.

  • Ensuring consistent adherence to brand guidelines, tone of voice, and style guides by establishing an organizational brand book and resource center for teams, partners, and vendors.

  • Implementing SEO-driven copywriting techniques, resulting in a remarkable 97% decrease in bounce rates on main landing pages and achieving growth in followers while enhancing engagement rates.

  • Revamping landing pages for CSA and Summer Camp programs using improved UX design methods and customer journey data to enhance user experience.

  • Providing expert reviews and maintaining project timelines by closely collaborating with teams and partners.

  • Evaluating content performance to enhance effectiveness and inform future messaging and channel strategies.

  • Planning and leading meetings with teams and stakeholders to identify key messages, marketing efforts, KPIs, and goals.

  • Capturing captivating photography and video content during events and day-to-day activities.

Turning interest into action.

We aimed to connect with the audience and help them discover Oxbow's incredible programs, opportunities, and offerings. We wanted to inspire them to get involved by volunteering, becoming members, attending events, or joining the popular CSA program.

Thanks to the hard work of our marketing team, we achieved fantastic results. Membership registrations skyrocketed, spreading awareness about Oxbow far and wide. We exceeded our fundraising goals, enabling us to make an even more significant impact. And the summer programs? They were a huge success!

I am proud of the progress and accomplishments of my team, building a thriving community that embraces all the beautiful things Oxbow has to offer.

Founded as a nonprofit in 2009, Oxbow is dedicated to growing organic food and native plants, to studying and building a resilient, biodiverse ecosystem, and to educating children and the general public about food, farming, and the environment.
