Drone Views & Tree Planting
I had the privilege of joining the incredible team at Oxbow Farm for a day of planting trees at a conservation site in North Bend. 🌱 This project is part of Oxbow’s mission to restore 10 acres of riparian land along the Snoqualmie River, focusing on planting native species and removing invasive plants. It’s all about giving back to the environment, and you can learn more about their work on their website.
While I wasn’t there for the entire restoration effort, I had the chance to contribute by planting trees and capturing some aerial shots of the site from above. It’s inspiring to witness the impact of consistent hard work and see the transformation of the landscape firsthand. The team at Oxbow is deeply committed to preserving the native landscape and protecting our earth.
A special moment was when we were all very cold and our noses were red and feeling frosty, then, Matt, the team leader, pulled out a thermos of hot tea to share with the team and us volunteers—such a thoughtful gesture of kindness and teamwork. He also showed me how to use an auger for the first time, and I have to say, it was a blast! (My arms hurt for a couple of days after, and oh so worth it)
These photos offer just a glimpse into the restoration project, but they reflect the beauty of nature and the hard work going into protecting and restoring our local ecosystems. A big thank you to the Oxbow team for letting me be a small part of this journey! I can now officially say I have planted a tree, now to write a book I guess?
